The Getup Vintage is always looking for fashion-forward, environmentally conscious individuals who want a position where they can learn and grow with us!
All applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Scroll to the bottom of the page, print & fill out the application. We'd prefer you drop it off during open hours in order to meet you.
We are not hiring for the time being, but always encourage you to fill out an application as we will review applications received first before putting out a general word that we are hiring. Applications are kept on file for 1 year, so if your application is older than that, you will need to re-apply.
RETAIL STAFF
First and foremost, the person we’re looking for is truly passionate about selling vintage clothing. A natural salesperson is a must! This person needs to be friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic and able to command their space. This person must be skilled at talking to every person who walks through the door - and we count on our staff to provide superior customer service in a warm and welcoming environment where everyone can find the vintage they love to wear. This includes learning and researching about the history of pieces & also about the future of vintage in how it plays a roll in sustainability.
This person must be self-motivated. The nature of the shop is employees have a lot of independent work time - we want someone who will see what needs to be done & takes action without the need for constant supervision or a boss over your shoulder. Day-to-day operations include putting out new merchandise, answering telephones, social media, maintaining a clean and organized shop floor, and balancing a cash drawer at the end of the night.
Finally, this person wants to grow with us. They are flexible and pick up shifts when able. They are motivated to help and learn in other areas of the store beyond simply retail selling, including but not limited to - sourcing, cleaning, mending, online listing, photography, social media. Both experience with retail & also online selling experience is a definite plus. We are looking for at least a 1 year commitment from potential candidates. Part time, starting at $15 / hour.
MODELING
We are looking for models of EVERY TYPE and WE MEAN THAT!! We are a body positive, inclusive store and we need our model cast to reflect that. To submit an application to model, we need the following information from you via email at thegetupvintage@gmail.com with the subject line 2025 MODEL APPLICATION (do not fill out our regular store application if you're only interested in modeling).
- Bust, Waist, Hips measurement IN INCHES
- Height and Shoe Size
- A photo of your face and a photo of your full body. It doesn't need to be professionally taken, but we need a clear shot to see what you look like.
- Modeling experience is not required but if you do have experience we'd love to see it.
If you don't know your measurements in inches, please visit our retail store and any of our staff can take them for you. Vintage is one-of-one; we need accurate and current measurements in inches in order to pull goods that will fit your body.
Above all, confidence in front of the camera is a MUST.
We use models for the following:
Online Listings: this is our introduction shoot. All people who want to model us for more extensive photoshoots or for the runway must complete at least one of these so we can interact IRL and see your vibe in front of the camera. You will model 10-20 pieces of clothing pulled for you strictly for the goods you see on this website as well as some videos for social media. These are casual, fun shoots where you come with hair and makeup prepared however you desire. Online listing photoshoots are weekdays at our store at 10 AM and last for 1-2 hours. Models are paid in store credit.
Location / Styled Photoshoots: these shoots come up 2x-4x yearly and consist of a larger cast of models, 2 to 4 looks each, on location with hair, makeup, wardrobe provided. Models are paid either per hour or offered a flat rate depending on the type of of event.
Runway Shows: 1x-2x yearly. Models are paid flat rate per show.
You must provide your own transportation to and from events located in the greater Ann Arbor, Michigan area. We are a brick and mortar vintage store, we are looking for local talent and do not pay for models to be transported from other locales.

CAN I WORK AT THE GETUP IF I’M UNDER 18?
Sorry, but no. Our staff is small, so all retail employees must be key-holders & able to open and close the store by themselves. State of Michigan law does not permit that until you turn 18. Additionally, we cannot employ minors for modeling due to child privacy / child employment laws. Please keep us in mind when you turn 18, set a calendar reminder and apply then! :)
